The Comet Cursor

The Comet Cursor is a dynamically updated, customized cursor that can be a part of the overall Web site design. With the Comet Cursor technology, Web designers can now incorporate the cursor as an interactive design element in their Web site. For example, the standard cursors can be replaced with images.

The COMET Cursor is implemented as a software extension to the industry-standard Web browsers Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. The extension software allows browsers to interpret special instructions on a Web page and then download and display custom cursor images in specified contexts.

With the Comet Cursor, a Web site can give its visitors a custom cursor as a free gift. Surfers with Comet Systems' software can elect to keep their favorite Comet cursor even after they've left the site where they encountered it.

The Comet Cursor can be used to enhance navigation of a site, and games and contests. It can also be useful as a tool for brand building.

The Comet Cursor is currently used at entertainment sites such as Warner Bros., Dilbert, Comedy Central, X-Files, ER, and Friends. Toy manufacturers and sites such as Furby, Beanie Babies, and Northpole.com have all used the Comet Cursor.
