Jupitermedia Buys ArtToday Network
on Wednesday announced plans to dig deeper into the premium content well with the acquisition of the ArtToday Inc., a network of paid subscription graphic-design sites.Jupitermedia inked a deal with International Microcomputer Software Inc. to pay $13 million in cash for ArtToday. The cash-and-stock deal also includes 250,000 in restricted Jupitermedia stock and an earn-out that could push the price up by another $4 million over the next two years.
ArtToday, which sells online access to digital images, clipart, animations, fonts and Web graphics, runs a network that includes Photos.com, ClipArt.com, Graphics.com, FlashComponents.com and RebelArtist.com.
Jupitermedia said the ClipArt.com site was the largest subscription-based graphics resource on the Web, counting more than 2.5 million clipart images, animations, photos, fonts and sounds. The entire ArtToday network generates in excess of 30 million page views per month and has approximately 3.0 million unique visitors per month, the company said.
Jupitermedia CEO Alan Meckler said the deal adds new and diversified revenue and business opportunities for the Darien, Conn.-based company.
Jupitermedia, the parent company of internetnews.com, runs the internet.com and EarthWeb networks.
