Yahoo! Loses Media Exec to HBO

As Yahoo steps up efforts to develop content and partner with other media players, the company has lost an executive responsible for relationships with entertainment companies. Jim Moloshok, who was Yahoo's senior VP of entertainment and content acquisition, has jumped ship for Time Warner's HBO.

The move is a return to Time Warner for Moloshok, who was co-founder and president of Warner Brothers Online before joining Yahoo in 2002. He was also president and CEO of Entertaindom.com, an entertainment destination featuring original online programming.

This time at Time Warner, Moloshok will help HBO develop cross-platform programming. In his newly created position, he'll hold the title of president of media ventures. According to the company, he'll help HBO explore the "intersection between innovative content and fast changing technology."

"At HBO, we are looking to the future and integrating new media and technology plans in almost every department," said Carmi Zlotnik, executive vice president of original programming, business development and new media. "Jim's unique perspective will contribute immensely to company-wide efforts."

At Yahoo, Moloshok achieved visibility by facilitating cross-platform ad deals for Mark Burnett's "The Apprentice" TV show. Yahoo hosted and sold ads for the site that accompanied the program. He also struck content and marketing deals with Fox and with JibJab Media.
