Great article -- and timely as my birthday was on Saturday! Sephora does a great birthday promotion with a free gift offer that I could redeem in the store or online. I don't have a store nearby so wasn't going to redeem it, but then they offered free shipping in another e-mail, so I bought a lip gloss and voilá! Free birthday gift.

Also, quick note on Facebook: if you log in on your actual birthday, they do wish you a happy birthday at the top of your news feed. No e-mail though.
