Google+ Local - 4 Things You Need to Know [Video]

  |  June 4, 2012   |  Comments

Google has recently announced that all Google Local listings are now moving to Google+ Local. This is a new feature at Google+. The premise for the user is that you will now be able to more easily see reviews of businesses from your friends. It has integrated Zagat information within many of these listings as well.

The end user will probably adapt to this pretty easily. But the business owner is another story. This is yet another change on the online marketing front that businesses are going to have to internalize and implement in their marketing.

In short, if you are a business or organization, you are now in Google+. Welcome! Your listing, whether you knew you had it or not, is now becoming more integrated with user-generated content. On top of that, this page of your business will now be more easily found in the overall Google search listings. You can thank Google later.

I put a short video together highlighting what these changes mean to you and what you should know currently. The video shows examples of the changes and then I go over four points you should understand.

The four points are:

  1. You still update your listing at Google Places for Business.
  2. Your Google+ page will get integrated somehow, someday.
  3. These pages will now get indexed in the search listings.
  4. This continues the push for Google integrating Google+ into the overall Google experience.

Watch the video for all the details.
