Google prevailed as the top online property in the U.K. in August.

Google reached 89 percent of the U.K. online audience over 15 years old in August. That's according to data released by comScore tracking the top online properties and the top gaining properties in Britain.

While Google served 28.3 million unique visitors in August, Microsoft served 26.8 million unique visitors, or 84 percent reach in the market. Auction site eBay received 21.6 million unique visitors, a 2.4 percent drop over the previous month. Yahoo gained 1.3 percent reach over its July results, however with just over 21 million unique visitors it was not enough to pass eBay.
