Red Bricks Media Nabs Scott Neslund as CEO

Indie interactive agency brings on the veteran former CEO of Mindshare.

Neslund was previously CEO of Mindshare, a position he rose to after serving as managing director of the WPP-owned agency’s Chicago office. Earlier he was president of Starcom MediaVest’s StarLink in Chicago. His international work includes posts with Starcom in Toronto and Leo Burnett in Tokyo.

In addition to his management post, Neslund will pick up a board seat and retain “significant” equity interest in the firm. He’ll split his time between San Francisco and New York.

He replaces Red Bricks Media co-founder Elliott Easterling, who becomes chairman of the agency’s board.

“I was looking for opportunities purely in the digital space and an entrepreneurial environment that could capitalize on the change occurring in the industry right now,” Neslund said in a statement. “There is an industry trend of major advertisers starting to turn to independent digital shops for thought leadership on their business.”

Red Bricks Media offers search, online media planning, e-mail, and social marketing services. Its client roster has included Scottrade, Microsoft, and Hearst Corporation. It was founded in 2004 and has grown to 70 employees in three offices, including Hong Kong.
