Kim Partoll, John Kanapell leave AOL; HuffPo brings on a chief revenue officer; the Rubicon Project acquires Others Online.
AOL has eliminated the positions of COO Kim Partoll and SVP, AOL Search and Directional Media John Kanapell. The dismissals are part of a move to streamline the company's management structure ahead of its spin-off in Q4. Silicon Alley Insider first reported.
The Huffington Post hired Greg Coleman as president and chief revenue officer. Coleman was EVP of global sales at Yahoo, and briefly held a similar position at AOL. Current Chief Revenue Officer James Smith is leaving HuffPo after a transition.
The Rubicon Project acquires an audience optimization company. Rubicon, which offers a service designed to automate and optimize the buying and selling of online advertising, purchased Others Online for an undisclosed sum. Rubicon employs 130, while Others Online has four employees. Jordan Mitchell, Others Online CEO and founder, will become the Rubicon Project's VP, data intelligence. According to a spokesman, Others Online's audience optimization technology analyzes patterns of online consumer activity to learn and summarize what people care about.
Genuine Interactive names CMO. Cyril Lemaire will be chief marketing officer at the digital shop. Previously, he was VP, marketing, at EF Education's Go Ahead Travel Division in Boston.
MySpace executive joins games developer. Jason Oberfest heads to ngmoco, a developer of games created for the iPhone and iPod touch. The title at his new job is VP, social applications, and he's been charged with bringing ngmoco products to social networks and the Web. At MySpace, held the position as SVP, business development, and general manager for the social network's open platform.
Rocket Fuel expands NYC office. Calton Chan was named VP, sales, following the company's launch of its hybrid ad network. Chan heads up the NY sales team. Most recently, Chan held the position of VP, sales, at interCLICK.
