YouTube Related U.S. Searches Surpass Those for MySpace in March

Searches for MySpace continue to dip, losing out to social media competitors.

Following months of decline for searches related to ailing social network MySpace, more users searched using terms related to YouTube in March, according to data from Hitwise.

Searches for MySpace have dipped from 5.22 percent of searches in the social networking category in January to 4.44 percent in March. By comparison, searches for the term youtube have increased marginally from 4.61 percent to 4.62 percent in the same period.

Meanwhile, Facebook continued to grow its dominance of the category, growing from 10.41 percent of searches to 10.68 between January and March.
