InfoUSA Buys Yesmail

The e-mail marketing and list-management company is bought as parent company CMGI continues to pare down its portfolio.

Direct marketing company infoUSA said on Monday that it had acquired email marketer and list manager Yesmail in a cash deal. Exact financial terms of the deal, reached on Feb. 28, were not disclosed.

The acquisition comes as Yesmail parent company CMGI continues to shed businesses. Two weeks ago, CMGI CMGI sold off its stake in ad network Engage last September, and followed up the deal by unloading its stake in managed hosting company NaviSite two days later. The once high-flying incubator also bailed out of its $115 million deal for the naming rights of the New England Patriots' new football stadium.

infoUSA said Yesmail's Ed Heinrich would run the division's San Francisco operations, while Ed Mallin, infoUSA's head of list management services, would run the Chicago operations.

"We are excited about acquiring Yesmail's automation technology, email brokerage service business and blue-chip client base, all of which perfectly complement and broaden our existing email management and automation solutions," said Vinod Gupta, infoUSA's chairman and chief executive.
