More U.S. and EU mobile users accessed online content through Web browsers than through apps in Q4 2010.
A greater number of U.S. and European mobile users accessed online content through Web browsers on their mobile devices than through applications in the final three months of 2010, according to data from comScore. In addition, mobile Web use is growing faster than application use, the measurement firm estimated.
Thirty-six percent of mobile using Americans and 29 percent of Europeans browsed the mobile Web in the three months ending December 2010, while application access reached 34 percent of Americans and 28 percent of Europeans, comScore's data suggests.
Compared with the same period in 2009, application access grew by 8 percent in the U.S. and 7 percent in Europe. Meanwhile, browser use grew at a faster pace, increasing by 9 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
