Sweden is where it's at right now. McCann Erickson can testify, having recruited numerous Swedes to its offices in New York and London. So can Stockholm's consumers who have grown accustomed to experiences that mesh digital with out-of-home placements (see Volkswagen's "Fun Theory" and the McDonald's Pong billboard). And of course, the country boasts acclaimed digital learning institutions like Hyper Island and Berghs School of Communications.
So it comes as little surprise that R/GA is opening a presence there, to capture talent flowing into the workforce and poach senior talent from established agencies.
R/GA Stockholm will be led by Managing Director Anders Erlandsson (above) and Executive Creative Director Kay Höök. Both join from Digitas Sweden. Previously, Erlandsson was a partner and CEO at the Svensson Advertising Agency and CEO of Ondatje Advertising Agency, working for Canon, Absolut. Höök also worked for Nike.
R/GA CEO Bob Greenberg said in a statement, "This is not a move driven by a specific client requirement, but a decision born solely out of our own agency’s global growth strategy."
