HBO Offers 'Luck' Episode a Week Early Via 'Go' Service

  |  January 26, 2012

luck-hboAs the first episode of HBO race track drama "Luck" premieres on Sunday, January 29, the network will make the second episode available on its HBO Go platform. Go offers instant access to HBO content via desktop and mobile devices.

The buzz-building move enables HBO Go users to see Luck’s second episode up to a week earlier than its air date, building awareness for the show and the Go platform. "We’re helping viewers become further immersed into the series," an HBO rep said.

This isn’t the first time HBO has made content available early on the platform. Last May, for example, it made an unaired episode of Game of Thrones available to HBO Go users.

HBO Go has more than 1,400 shows and movies, including Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, The Sopranos, Sex and the City and Deadwood. Launched in May 2011, it has been downloaded more than 5.5 million times.

The app's available on iOS and Android devices, as well as platforms like Roku. It's free to HBO subscribers through certain TV providers.
