Update: Google and Starbucks will run a national Google Offers campaign on Wednesday, pitching $10 gift cards for $5. Due to Starbucks' unusual popularity, the effort should be a boon for Google Offers subscriber numbers as the Mountain View, CA-based digital giant chases daily deals leader Groupon.
For every deal purchased, Google is donating $3 to the Create Jobs for USA Fund, an organization created by Starbucks and the Opportunity Finance Network. According to an emailed statement from Google this morning, it is willing to donate up to $3 million from this campaign.
Starbucks follows in the footsteps of national campaigns from REI, JetBlue, and Toys R Us since Google Offers was launched 10 months ago. The deals platform is currently live in 40 markets.
