Coca-Cola and HMSHost have partnered to run a Foursquare campaign through the end of summer, marking a rare appearance by the beverage giant on the geo-social app. Foursquare users who check in at HMSHost's shopping malls, travel plazas, and airports will be eligible to win a year's supply of Diet Coke. One of the prizes will be given away every 12 days.
Other prizes include a seven-day getaway at a Four Points hotel, as well as a $500 gas card for HMSHost-operated properties. The Bethesda, MD-based company has 5,200 locations around the country. When Foursquare users check in to a HMSHost-operated venue, they'll get served a link to a mobile microsite, where they can enter the sweepstakes. Consumers can check in three times a day to increase their odds of winning.
AboutFoursquare.com first reported the campaign. The site, which is dedicated to tracking Foursquare activities, says it's the first time Coca-Cola has run a campaign on the geo-social app in the U.S.
Starbucks Check-Ins Donate $1 to Fight AIDS
In other Foursquare-related news, the New York-based tech company has partnered with AIDS charity (RED) to raise money and awareness for the disease. Through June 10, Foursquare users who follow (RED) on the platform and then check in at either Starbucks or Bonefish Grill eateries around the country will donate $1.
Check-ins will unlock a dedicated Foursquare badge for the campaign, which is called "(RED) Rush." To learn more, check out the initiative's site.
