Google is stepping in to help family and friends of Boston Marathon runners find their loved ones after multiple explosions occurred yesterday.

The tool includes a disclaimer stating that Google does not review or verify any information, and all submitted details are public to all users.

Since its relaunch yesterday afternoon, the Person Finder homepage says it is currently tracking about 800 records.

Google is not the only company that is lending a helping hand in the face of the tragedy. Red Cross also has a similar site called Safe and Well, which is currently being used to assist friends and family of the victims locate their loved ones.

Google Person Finder is a project of Google Crisis Response, part of the technology giant's non-profit arm, Google.org.
