Woohoo, Facebook Finally Lets Users Edit Posts After Sharing (on Android)

  |  September 26, 2013   |  Comments

Scenario: You’ve updated your Facebook status with a really cool post but just realized you’ve missed a word out. Damn it. Time to quickly delete it and repost before anyone notices.- or even worse, you lose any precious likes. Sound familiar? We’ve all been there but thankfully, we won’t be going there again.

For the first time, Facebook is letting users edit their posts after the fact. The change comes to the web and Android in an update today; an iOS version is hoped to follow soon. Like many of Facebook's new features, this will be a gradual rollout, so some users may not be able to see this feature right away. When we do all get to use it however, the new ability will let users click to edit a post, then preserve a viewable history of the changes that all friends will be able to see. For comments, hovering over or tapping a post will reveal a pencil icon on the right that you can click in order to start editing.

Facebook first introduced comment editing in mid-2012, but up until now it held off on letting people actually edit posts.
