Capital One 360, an FDIC-insured bank that says it offers online banking with no fees or minimums, has launched an online campaign called What are You #Saving4? to get consumers saving and talking about their aspirations, as well as to give them “an exciting head start to achieving them” during “the season of spending.”
In order to participate, consumers can share their goals by either uploading images that best captures their savings dreams on the #Saving4 microsite, or by tweeting what they are #Saving4 by sharing the nickname of their 360 savings accounts with the #Saving4 hashtag.
According to spokeswoman Laura DiLello, one of the features of a 360 savings account is that consumers can set up as many as 25 subaccounts differentiated by nicknames. Ergo, the Twitter component is restricted to Capital One 360 customers.
So far, Capital One has received thousands of submissions, a rep says. Indeed, as of November 26, there have been almost 2,000 instances of the #Saving4 hashtag on Twitter, according to social analytics tool Topsy.
That includes “a picture of a dilapidated kitchen and two sets of car seats,” DiLello says. “These are ways to capture what you want to do with money that you’d win or what your big savings dreams are.”
To encourage participants, Capital One 360 is giving consumers opportunities to win cash prizes. And, starting Black Friday, Capital One will select hourly winners from the nickname and image entries over the course of the holiday weekend for a total of more than 190 winners.
“Part of the conversation is to encourage [savings] and make it fun and to reward these really great savings dreams and get them started and help promote savings through our account as well,” DeLillo says.
Capital One 360 is a division of Capital One, N.A., which is a subsidiary of Capital One Financial Corporation, a financial holding company based in McLean, Virginia.
