Spring may not officially arrive until March 20, but household cleaner Ajax has launched Ajax Social Wipes, a website that allows Twitter and Facebook users to do a little spring cleaning on their social feeds.
"Loving a brand doesn't mean you love it forever popping up in your newsfeed," a quote on the site says. "Ajax Social Wipes allow you to spring clean your newsfeed of all the brands that have built up over time."
The site boasts two formulas.
The Facebook wipes, for example, are "New Anti-Spam Newsfeed Wipes," which "[kill] 99.9 percent of likes," "[cut] spam," and "[lift] brands instantly."
In order to use Ajax Social Wipes for Facebook, users sign in via the social network, which pulls up icons of that user's likes. The site says to mouse over the like you want to be removed, roll over the like icon, click on the X, and watch the wipe clean.
After removing a like, the site pops up with messages like, "Bye Bye Like," and, "Consider It Wiped."
The site also has a Total Likes counter that, as the name implies, counts down with each wipe of a removed like.
In addition, Ajax has "New Anti-Spam Timeline Wipes" for Twitter that "[kill] 99.9 percent of bots," "[cut] junk tweets," and "[lift] spam instantly."
The site says, "Your Twitter followers are not always what they seem. Ajax Social Wipes allows you to spring clean your timeline by detecting and removing spambots that have built up over time."
Once a Twitter user signs in, the site scans his or her followers.
"Our new improved antibot formula is looking for common signs of spam accounts," the site says.
When it finishes, Ajax Social Wipes display a Possible Stains Detected counter that represents the number of potential spam followers.
"The list below is ordered with the mostly likely spam accounts at the top. The number shown is a percentage of how confident we are that an account is junk," the site says.
The user then has the option to select Not Spam, Block, or Report for each account.
The site says it is presented by Ajax Spray n' Wipe Easy Lift Out Wipes, which, according to Colgate-Palmolive, the brand's parent company, "are easy to lift out and allow you to tackle spills without having to stop what you're doing."
Colgate-Palmolive did not respond to requests for comment.
