When it comes to talent acquisition in the digital marketing industry, competition is always fierce. This past July, big industry players, including Yahoo, Omnicom Group, and Havas Worldwide, were actively grabbing digital talents.
Marc Bignell has joined Yahoo from Omnicom Group as head of trading across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). In his new role, Bignell will focus on driving agency relationships and trading agreement across the region.
Before he joined Yahoo, Bignell served as chief investment officer at Omnicom Media Group's worldwide division. Prior to that, he spent 20 years at Omnicom and held several roles within the company, including buying director EMEA for Omnicom Media Group and joint managing director of Opera Media UK.
McCann Worldgroup has named Mark Lund chief executive (CEO) of McCann Worldgroup UK. The appointment will take effect in October this year.
As CEO, Lund will lead more than 1,500 employees to integrate the company's business across areas of digital marketing, advertising, public relations, and more.
Previously, Lund was co-founder and managing partner of London-based agency Now.
Omnicom Group has appointed Tory Ruhanen as president and CEO of TBWA Worldwide. Ruhanen succeeds Tom Carroll, who will continue as chairman of TBWA Group.
Most recently, Ruhanen worked for TBWA's parent company Omnicom Group, where he helped drive cross-agency collaboration for the company's largest clients. Before that, he held a number of senior management roles at Omnicom Group agencies, including chairman and CEO of the Americas, deputy chairman of North America, and managing director, BBDO.
Havas Worldwide has appointed Jason Musante as executive creative director in Havas Worldwide's New York office.
In the new role, Musante will work closely with a number of brands, including Keurig, Liberty Mutual, and Dos Equis, contributing across areas of digital, social, and experiential work.
Before he joined Havas Worldwide, Musante served as creative director at ad agency Anomaly, spearheading the global launch of Google Glass. Prior to that, he was agency Co:Collective's first senior creative hire, responsible for the re-launch of USA Today and Google+. In addition, Musante held several senior digital and innovation roles at Saatchi New York and BBDO New York where he created "The Ecomagination Photo Project," one of GE's first award-winning social initiatives.
Rubicon Project has promoted Mari Kim Novak to chief marketing officer (CMO) from her previous role of senior vice president of global advertising solutions. In her new position, Novak will be responsible for driving the adoption of a unified platform for advertising across devices and formats, as well as building business relationships with brands, publishers, and agencies.
With 17 years of experience, Novak has worked on both the buy-side and the sell-side. Prior to Rubicon Project, she spent nine years at Microsoft, where she served as global head of marketing for Microsoft advertising based in New York City. At the time, she was responsible for Microsoft's global marketing budget, industry outreach, and sales enablement programs to support products like MSN, XBOX, Skype, and Bing.
Programmatic video advertising platform BrightRoll has added three industry leaders to its executive team - Bruce Falck has taken the role of chief operating officer (COO); Guy Yalif has been elected as vice president (VP) of global marketing; and Mark Vranesh has been added to board of directors to serve as audit committee chair.
As COO, Falck will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations at BrightRoll, as well as spearheading sales, marketing, and business development to drive the company's business globally.
Before he joined BrightRoll, Falck had been working for Google, where he joined in 2006 as one of the founding product managers for Google's TV advertising business. At Google, he most recently led global sales and strategy for the DoubleClick Digital Marketing platform and advertising exchange.
In his new role, Yalif will focus on building the BrightRoll brand and driving the company's continued growth. Previously, Yalif served as head of global product marketing at Twitter, working closely with TV networks, brands, and agencies on the changing TV landscape. Prior to Twitter, he spent more than 10 years at several start-ups and Yahoo, where he led product and digital media marketing.
Along with these two hires, Vranesh will be in charge of all financial reporting and disclosures for BrightRoll. Previously, he served as chief financial officer (CFO) at Zynga.
mInteraction, GroupM Thailand's digital agency, has appointed Worawin Soncharoen as associate director of the digital strategy unit. In his new role, Soncharoen will help develop innovative brand idea and strategic digital communications across GroupM agencies.
A veteran with 10 years of experience in strategic and brand management, Soncharoen most recently served as brand strategist at agency Creative Juice\Bangkok, working closely with a number of brands, including Singha, Redbull, and Thai Airways. Additionally, he ran and oversaw the brand conceptual design for TMB Bank Public Company.
