Ad network 24/7 Media Inc.and American Cities Studios, a new media design and sports marketing firm, signed a three-year agreement to co-market their services to professional sports franchises and leagues and NCAA teams.
Leading sports sites designed by American Cities Studios will join the sports channel of the 24/7 Network. These sites, which reach millions of fans, include the official team Web sites of The New York Mets, the Baltimore Orioles, the Detroit Tigers, the Chicago White Sox and the San Francisco Giants, as well as other high profile sports sites, including College Hoops Insider, the Corel WTA tour and NYSports.net.
24/7 Media’s sports channel currently delivers in excess of 16 million monthly impressions, reaching more than 1.2 million unique users, according to the October 1998 Media Metrix Ad Network report. The American Cities sites will deliver on average an incremental 50 million monthly impressions. This will place the 24/7 sports channel among the top five sports offerings on the Web, the companies said.
“The many outstanding Web sites that we’ve added through this partnership, together with our already impressive roster of sports Web sites, enables us to aggregate in the 24/7 Media sports channel one of the largest and the most desirable collection of sports-related advertising impressions available on the Internet,” said Mark Burchill, senior vice president, business development of 24/7 Media. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.
“This relationship delivers a compelling proposition to sports franchises and leagues,” said Jerry Silverman, executive vice president of business development for American Cities Studios. “American Cities understands the emotional aspect of selling sports advertising and knows how to package Internet inventory into multiple-platform sponsorship packages. With 24/7 Media’s highly regarded sales force as our partner, we can now also offer the best solution for maximizing the value of a Web site’s total inventory.”
