Active Internet Users by Country, July 2004

The at-home global active Internet universe for 12 selected countries grew by nearly 1 percentage point to roughly 292 million users.

Nielsen//NetRatings found that the overall at-home global active Internet universe for 12 selected countries swelled by more than 2.8 million users from June 2004 to July 2004, with the largest loss, once again, attributed to the United States.

The UK and Germany posted the largest user gains, while Hong Kong narrowly led in percentage growth. Nielsen//NetRatings says that while some of the growth can be attributed to estimate adjustments, there have also been increased activity levels.

Switzerland measured the highest negative growth, resulting in the loss of more than 210,000 users.
