Microsoft global advertising exec Carolyn Everson is moving onto Facebook after a brief eight-month stint with the 35-year-old technology giant. First reported by AllThingsD late on Tuesday, she will become Facebook’s VP of global sales and report to David Fischer, VP of advertising and global operations.
Facebook confirmed the development with ClickZ in a prepared statement that highlighted its partnerships with Microsoft. “We have a long and strong relationship that includes search ads on our site, a social layer on Bing search results and a deep and popular integration with Xbox. They are a leader when it comes to unlocking the power of social for their already popular products and services. We look forward to continuing to expand our relationship with them.”
Everson will assume the role vacated by the industry-respected Mike Murphy last fall. The hiring is a coup for the Palo Alto, CA-based company.
Everson, who previously served as an MTV Networks exec, brings a wealth of ad sales experience to the table at a juncture when six-year-old Facebook looks to heighten relationships with Hollywood, retail, and CPG brands.
