James Smith starts at HuffPo as chief revenue officer; PBS names an SVP of interactive.

Former AOL exec James Smith began work at The Huffington Post as Chief Revenue Officer. In his new post Smith will oversee advertising sales including the outside sales team at IAC Advertising Solutions.

PBS named Jason Seiken as SVP of interactive. Seiken will oversee new media content on pbs.org, pbskids.org, pbskidsgo.org, pbsparents.org, and emerging broadband and mobile delivery platforms. His previous posts include being the founding executive editor of Washingtonpost.com and work in AOL’s channel programming group. He will report to PBS Chief Content Officer John Broland in the broadcaster’s Arlington, VA office.

Eric Thorkilsen made the move to Move.com where he was named president of the related services division. He will oversee non-real estate content and advertising for Move.com properties such as Move’s Retail Advertising Group, Welcome wagon, Moving.com and Home Plans. Thorkilsen’s experience includes several positions at Time Warner, Scripps Networks and Lifestyle Media Partners.

Topix.net made Wes Irish VP of operations. Irish is charged with building a team and networking infrastructure to support the Topix.net site through planned growth. He was previously president of Coyote Hill Consulting; director of networking systems at Stanford University; and interim director of network services at San Jose University.

National Geographic tapped Fusionbox to build its social networking site. The new Web presence is for the maps division. The site will include map-based products, software, print-on-demand maps, and atlases. Fusionbox will also build a content management system where an administrator can update content. Users will be able to upload waypoints from their GPS to the site.

24/7 Real Media named two new execs, a CTO and CIO. Oleg Vishnepolsky, CTO, previously worked for AOL and DoubleClick. Anthony Borruso, CIO, held senior IT positions at Bozell, Ammarati Puris Lintas, and BBDO.

Linda Fisk was appointed VP of marketing of Freedom Interactive. She will lead all consumer and trade marketing, research and public relations initiatives for the company. In her previous experience, Fisk held VP-level positions for IFILM, Scripps Networks, Belo Interactive, and Gaylord Entertainment.

Greg Yardley took a position as product manager at Right Media. Yardley previously worked at Root Markets building a B2B exchange for online mortgage leads.
