Confirming earlier reports that it is ready to take on Flipboard, Facebook announced it is launching its visual storytelling app, Paper, next week, February 3.
In its news blog post, Facebook highlights a few points, three of which are important to brands, marketers, and advertisers:
User experience has been a priority. Read: Engagement is made easier and dwell time is likely to increase.
Autoplay videos come full screen. Read: Hello eyeballs.
“Trusted publishers,” i.e. brands and popular users, are authenticated as such. Read: It makes their content easier to spot.
Another smart detail: Facebook has also built a microsite announcing Paper, with an immersive design that mirrors what the experience on Paper is likely to be, complete with the video autoplay in full screen.
Here’s a peek at the product:
So, Paper or Flipboard? The game is on.
