The CareerMosaic employment site launched an online job fair in Los Angeles on Yahoo

The event, which will run through March 5, is part of a series of online job fairs targeting major U.S. and international job markets. The Los Angeles job fair features employers such as Boeing, Canon Business Machines, Disney Consumer Products, KPMG, Raytheon Systems Company, and ViaSat, and can be accessed via the Yahoo Metro Los Angeles site as well as through CareerMosaic’s home page.

The online fairs are part of a multimillion dollar global advertising agreement announced in November 1997, and are the first of their kind for online recruiting on Yahoo

The job fairs, which began in January, will be held on all Yahoo Metro sites in 12 major U.S. markets, on Yahoo’s main site, and in native languages in locations around the world where both Yahoo and CareerMosaic have sites.

The fairs will be announced by banners on each Yahoo Metro home page, and featured on CareerMosaic’s home page as well as on various other pages throughout Yahoo and CareerMosaic.

Similar events will be held on a weekly and biweekly basis through October in Atlanta, New York, Dallas/Fort Worth, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC, Austin, Miami, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Chicago. The international job fairs will be held in Australia, Canada, France, Japan, United Kingdom/Ireland, and Asia.

Each job fair will feature participating employers, with their corporate logos displayed, and offer job seekers a chance to win a prize valued at $3,500 by entering a sweepstakes contest. Each corporate logo will take users to a page with information on each company, job openings, and an online response form.

CareerMosaic features more than 70,000 job listings from thousands of employers around the world, detailed descriptions of more than 400 of the world’s leading corporations, more than 50,000 resumes to search at no cost and free resume-posting, tips on job-hunting and resume-writing, research tools, and a special feature for college students, with links to employers and other resources for those entering the job market.

CareerMosaic was launched on the Web in 1994 by Bernard Hodes Advertising Inc., a recruitment and employee communications agency and a division of the Omnicom Group. The site claims more than 35 million requests per month and over 350,000 job queries a day.
