Twitter’s Chief Executive Dick Costolo Steps Down

Dick Costolo is going to step down as chief executive officer (CEO) of Twitter. Costolo will be replaced by co-founder Jack Dorsey on an interim basis.

Prior to Costolo’s appointment as CEO, co-founders Jack Dorsey and Evan Williams both served as CEOs of the company, but in the past year, Costolo has overhauled his management team. Costolo said on a conference call that Twitter would consider both internal and external candidates for its next CEO.

Costolo stepped down on on July 1, but he will continue to serve on the company’s board.

axelAxel Steinman Promoted to International Vice President of Search Sales for Microsoft

Microsoft Bing had appointed Axel Steinman as international vice president of search sales.

With more than 27 years of experience in the online and technology industry, Steinman served as advertising and online vice president for emerging marketers for Microsoft, responsible for growing the revenue and market share of display, search, ad networks and emerging assets across Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, as well as Central and Eastern Europe.

Agency INNOCEAN Worldwide has named Jeremy Craigen global chief creative officer (CCO).

Prior to this new role, Craigen spent 25 years at DDB London. He started his career at Ted Bates in 1984 and joined DDB as a junior copywriter in 1990. He worked his way up at DDB and was appointed as executive creative director in 2005. There, Craigen had been executive director for the Volkswagen account and global executive committee member since 2012.

Craigen has served on many major juries of industry awards committees and has been Jury Chair of LIA, Clio, and Young Guns. In 2013, he was awarded The Chairman’s Award at British TV Awards for his outstanding contribution to film advertising.

ted-lim-medTed Lim to Be Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Asia Pacific

Dentsu Aegis Network has elevated Ted Lim to chief creative officer for its Asia Pacific operations (excluding Japan). In his new role, Lim will work with more than 20 offices across 10 countries.

Lim joined Dentsu in 2013, where he led creative offerings for the Southeast Asian markets. In his first 18 months at the agency, Lim helped win more than 20 pitches across the region including Uniqlo, Dulux, Panasonic, Coca-Cola and Yamaha. Prior to Dentsu, Lim served as executive creative director and deputy chairman for Naga DDB Malaysia and chief creative officer for Leo Burnett Singapore.

Lim has won and judged many industry awards, including Cannes, D&AD, Clio, The One Show, The New York Festivals, The London International Awards, AdFest and the Asia Pacific Effie Awards.

terri-walterKargo Hires Terri Walter as Its First Chief Marketing Officer

Mobile advertising company Kargo has hired its first chief marketing officer (CMO) Terri Walter. In her new role, Walter will lead the marketing team to drive the company’s business growth. She will directly report to Kargo’s chief operating officer, Ryan McConville.

Before she joined Kargo, Walter served as CMO for marketing automation software company PubMatic. Prior to that, she was global brand director for Microsoft Advertising where she spearheaded branding and repositioning efforts for the business.

Walter also has an agency background. She held an executive role at Razorfish, where she helped build the agency’s mobile and emerging media capabilities.
