Ad network DoubleClick Inc. of New York City, appointed Thomas S. Murphy and Don Peppers to the company’s board of directors.
Murphy is chairman and chief executive officer emeritus of Capital Cities/ABC Inc. and is a member of The Walt Disney Company’s Board of Directors.He was chairman and chief executive officer of Capital Cities/ABC for 24 years from 1966 until 1990 before resuming the title in February 1994. Murphy retired from Cap Cities/ABC in 1996, upon its merger with Disney. He is also a director of Texaco Inc. and Johnson & Johnson.
Peppers is an authority on one-to-one marketing and is widely respected as a new business “rainmaker” for advertising agencies, including Chiat/Day and Lintas:USA. As president of Marketing 1to1/Peppers and Rogers Group, Peppers specializes in thought leadership and strategy in the fields of interactivity, marketing technology, relationship management, and new business development.
Peppers is co-author with wife Martha Rogers, of “The One to One Future: Building Relationships One Customer at a Time,” and “Enterprise One to One: Tools for Competing in the Interactive Age.” Previously he held the title of president and chief executive officer of Perkins/Butler Direct Marketing, a top-20 direct response-advertising agency.
