Execs & Accounts: Critical Mass, AutoTrader, Geary

Omnicom’s Critical Mass won the AutoTrader.com digital account. Critical Mass will develop and execute digital marketing strategies for B2B and B2C campaigns.

Former Digitas executive Dean Whitney was named president of Garfield Group Interactive in Boston. Whitney was known at Digitas as a Web 2.0 technology evangelist. Prior to Digitas, he had a hand in start-up ventures, including five years as vice president at Bridgeline Software.

Avenue A/Razorfish promoted two executives in its Atlanta office. Lindsay Blankenship was promoted from associate search director to search marketing discipline lead in the central region. Michelle Kelly received a promotion from senior account manager to associate search director.

Official Airline Guide selected Geary Interactive for digital services. Geary completed a re-design of the OAG.com Web site, and created an online marketing campaign to support the company’s Travel Planner Pro online tools.

Dominic Schmitt was named general manager of Tennis.com. Chairman Dave Morgan brought Schmitt to the Tennis Company, which owns the site. He was previously VP of client services at Tacoda and VP of product development at Barnes&Noble.com.

Microsoft named Shane Kim and Phil Spencer to leadership roles in the Entertainment group. After the departure of Jeff Bell, existing corporate VP of global marketing for its entertainment business, Shane Kim will assume the role corporate VP of strategy and business development, a newly-created role. Phil Spencer will take on leadership of all Microsoft-developed and published games for the Xbox and PC. Spencer has been at Microsoft Game Studios for six years, and Kim for four and a half.

FireThread hired two senior staff members. Edward Behan, director of business development, was senior account manager at the VisComm Group before coming to FireThread. Melina Iacovone, director of marketing, worked as an account executive at Media Logic where she coordinated on the Visa Financial account working with partner banks and co-brand partners.

Pangea Software selected Reverb Communications as its agency of record. Reverb will be responsible for public relations and marketing efforts for Pangea’s iPhone and iPod Touch games.

Gorilla Nation signed rep deals with the Global Gaming League’s network of 15 gaming properties. Gorilla Nation will exclusively represent the international online ad inventory for GGL, and U.S. inventory for a select group of advertisers .

Bango was chosen by Admoda to provide mobile analytics. Admoda will use the analytics platform to identify, track, and build profiles on mobile visitors to report to advertisers.
