Execs & Accounts: Euro RSCG Discovery, Blog Council, GSI Interactive

Euro RSCG Discovery names a new SVP of sales; Dell's social media strategist goes to Blog Council; GSI Interactive acquires a Bay Area integrated marketing firm.

Euro RSCG Discovery recruits sales executive. The data analytics, CRM, and behavioral marketing arm of Euro RSCG Worldwide hired Bruce Wilkinson as SVP of sales, to oversee new business in sales for both American Student List (ASL) and Euro RSCG Discovery offerings. Wilkinson was previously VP and business development leader at Experian in Chicago. He also held senior positions at GE, HSBC, and Citigroup.

Bob Pearson, the architect of Dell’s forward thinking social marketing strategy, has left the company to become president of the Blog Council. The Blog Council is an affiliation of social media executives at major companies, including Microsoft, The Home Depot, Procter & Gamble, and Walmart.

GSI Interactive expands West. The interactive arm of GSI Commerce acquired Bay Area integrated marketing strategy and design agency Silverlign Group. Through the acquisition, GSI Interactive will establish a West Coast presence. Silverlign will operate as a standalone subsidiary and its founders Randy Basso, president, and Tim Kain, executive creative director, will lead operations.

Razorfish Philadelphia promotes two. Joshua Palau was named vice president of search engine optimization. He will manage SEO-related business development and lead account teams in the development of strategic SEO solutions. Matthew Maynard was promoted to senior account manager. He runs the so-called Feed business and oversees the relationships and strategies for content distribution on campaigns for accounts such as Weight Watchers, AAA, Luxottica, and Choice Hotels.

Nike runs with “What Do You Play For?” social media campaign. Nike partnered with Brickfish and Youth Noise to run a social media campaign to ask kids how their athletic passions can change the world. At www.brickfish.com/YN_Nike, entrants can submit photos that demonstrate their impact on sports.

Kevin Krim is named head of Bloomberg.com. Krim was named head of the Bloomberg.com Web site business. He joins the publisher from Yahoo, where he was vice president of product and strategy for Yahoo HotJobs and Yahoo Small Business. He was previously general manager of LiveJournal.com, a global social network and blogging community.

Del Monte Foods selects Catalyst:SF as its digital AOR. Catalyst:SF was named following a competitive review. The agency will manage the digital strategy and digital media planning and buying for Del Monte Foods brands, including Del Monte, S&W, Contadina, College Inn, Meow Mix, Kibbles’ n Bits, 9Lives, Milk-Bone, Pup-Peroni, Snausages, and Pounce.

Millennial Media adds location-aware advertising to its network. Through a partnership with location-based services firm WaveMarket, Millennial Media said it will be able to implement location-sensitive ads for users who opt-into the feature for ads across the ad network.

NetShelter names Michele Sweeney to a dual role. Sweeney was hired in the newly-created position of chief sales and marketing officer, overseeing sales, marketing, and client services operations. Sweeney previously worked at Nimblefish Technologies where she was EVP, marketing solutions.

DOCLIX hires a new marketing exec. Yael Yekutiel is now vice president of marketing and public relations at DOCLIX, a performance advertising solutions provider. She was previously head of marketing at display ad marketplace Traffiq.

Next New Networks names head of ad sales. Denise Garcia was named senior vice president of sales at Next New Networks. She will lead the sales, advertising solutions, and ad operations teams and advance Next New Networks’ integrated advertising offerings. Her previous role was senior vice president of corporate strategy and research at Vibrant Media.
