Execs & Accounts: Facebook, HopStop, Msnbc.com

Biotech firm’s CFO heads to Facebook. David Ebersman, the former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Genentech, will become Facebook’s CFO effective September 2009. Ebersman currently is a 15-year veteran at Genentech, a $13.4 billion company acquired by Roche three months ago. At Facebook, Ebersman will report to Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg and will be responsible for Facebook’s finance and accounting. He will also serve on the executive management team, which is responsible for strategy, planning, and operations. Ebersman replaces Gideon Yu, CFO since April 2007.

Joe Meyer jumps on board HopStop as CEO. Meyer is a former general manager and vice president for AOL’s Quigo Technologies. At HopStop.com, an online city transit guide, Meyer also has the title of president.

Msnbc.com, Zumobi team up on an ad-supported iPhone app.Consumers can access NBC News, MSNBC Cable shows, blogs, and Twitter streams using the iPhone and iPod application. Zumobi, which distributes and helps companies generate revenue from mobile content, integrated a sponsorship from Best Buy as part of the launch, linking to the retailer’s featured deal of the day.

Mobile Marketing Association names global board. Federico Pisani Massamormile, CEO of Brazil-based Hanzo, has been named chairman of the MMA’s global board. Michael Becker, vice president of business development at iLoop Mobile, which is based in San Jose, CA, is global vice chairman.
