Yahoo! hires Scheckner to head trade marketing; Weather Channel mobile chief to lead MMA as global chair; Gary Price goes to Ask Jeeves.
Yahoo hired Matt Scheckner to lead some of its trade marketing, including events, sponsorships and advertising. Scheckner was CEO of Empire Sports & Entertainment and the executive director of Advertising Week in New York, which he’ll coordinate again in 2006.
The Mobile Marketing Association appointed Louis Gump, VP of mobile for The Weather Channel, to the role of global chairman. Previous chairman Jim Manis of m-Qube steps down and will become chairman emeritus.
The board of directors and executive committee were also elected. 2006 board members represent companies such as Cingular Wireless, Mobile ESPN Publishing, T-Mobile USA, America Online, Verizon Wireless, VISA USA, CBS, CondeNet/Condé Nast, MobiTV and OgilvyInteractive North America.
The Executive committee includes execs from Procter & Gamble, MSN, Fox Mobile Entertainment and Sprint Nextel.
Ask Jeeves hired Gary Price, a former news editor for ClickZ sister site Search Engine Watch and longtime editor of ResourceShelf, a meta-information site. He’ll lead Ask Jeeves’ outreach within the library and education communities. His replacement at Search Engine Watch is Barry Schwartz, editor of Search Engine Roundtable.
Winstar Interactive hired Lauren Kinnucan as VP of the Midwest region and Jeffrey Cohen as an account manager in its New York office. Kinnucan joins from parent company Interep.
