Crystal Semantics gets board member, funding; Bluestreak brings aboard European sales VP; and JupiterResearch's Elliott bids farewell to online ad coverage.

Crystal Semantics, owner of a new contextual advertising technology, added Evan Rudowski to its board as a non-executive director. Rudowski was managing director of Excite Europe. He joins as the company announces $2 million in early stage funding.

Bluestreak hired Peter Chaplin as senior VP of European sales and operations. Chaplin was most recently a partner at sales and marketing consultancy Axcela. Earlier, he was VP of Europe for Engage.

Media Marketing Solutions, an integrated agency and part of WPP’s media investment firm GroupM, hired two execs in account services positions. George Coppola will head marketing on its El Pollo Loco account and two brands under client CommonHealth. Dan McGillick will manage direct marketing for NovoNordisk and various CommonHealth accounts.

JupiterResearch analyst Nate Elliott has left the online advertising coverage area. Elliott moved to London to accept a position with the same firm in an as-yet-unnamed coverage area. There’s no word yet on a replacement.

In his two years of focus on interactive marketing, Elliott provided analysis on developments and trends in rich media, behavioral targeting and related Web advertising vehicles. He is also among Jupiter’s coterie of blogging analysts. Previously Elliott worked at DoubleClick as senior manager for rich media.

“And of course I’ll continue to pitch in on our advertising and search coverage as well,” Elliott wrote on his blog, when he posted about the new gig. ClickZ and JupiterResearch share a parent company.

.Com marketing added several interactive marketing clients in the last quarter of 2004. They include Outward Bound, the Mammoth Mountain resort, RoomConnection.com and Historic Bok Sanctuary.
