Glam Media appoints Portale as publishing director; Google taps Brilliant to head philanthropic efforts; imc2 Philly office gets managing director.

Glam Media named Carl Portale as VP and publishing director. Portale was SVP and Elle Group publishing director at Hachette Filipacchi Media. He has been an advisor to the board with Glam.com for the past six months. In his new role, he’ll oversee client advertising, marketing and co-branding arrangements.

Google named Larry Brilliant to helm its philanthropic initiatives as executive director of Google.org. Brilliant is a founder and director of The Seva Foundation and a policy advisory council member at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health.

Digital marketing agency imc2 hired Joel Gehman as VP and managing director of its Philadelphia office. Gehman was SVP of client services for interactive agency Refinery.

Macy’s named Starcom USA of Chicago as its national planning and buying agency. The assignment includes interactive, television, radio, print and out of home advertising The client is a division of Federated Department Stores.

Search marketing agency 360i hired David Berkowitz as director of strategic planning. Berkowitz was director of marketing for Viewpoint and iCrossing.

WhitePages.com hired Craig Paris as a regional VP in New York. Previously, he was VP of sales at Admarketplace.net.

Philosophy will use Coremetrics’ analytics platform to analyze visitor behaviors on its site. That data will in turn be used to optimize search campaigns, other marketing initiatives and merchandising.
