About rehires Pancer; DMA names Lloyd-Martin to chair search council.

About rehired Andrew Pancer as chief operating officer. Pancer was About’s CEO from 2002 until 2004, when he joined Direct Revenue as CFO.

Heather Lloyd-Martin was named chair of the Direct Marketing Association’s Search Engine Marketing Council. Lloyd-Martin is search strategies director at WebSourced, and a recognized expert in SEM. The council is part of the DMA’s bid to establish expertise in search, an area where it has not yet dabbled much.

Direct Revenue appointed its general counsel Andrew Reiskind as chief privacy officer. Reiskind will have oversight of the company’s privacy and disclosure practices. Ask Jeeves made a similar executive appointment this week.

Predictive analytics firm Compete hired Jeremy Crane, Frank Hanenberger and Dean Macko to its automotive practice. The company’s auto clients include DaimlerChrysler and Hyundai, which signed on as a client this week.
