Google gets more international; Yahoo! hires researcher; and IndustryBrains inks new clients.
Google named executives to run new offices in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Mexico City. Alexandre Hohagen, former general manager for HBO in Brazil, will run the Sao Paulo operation. The Mexico office will be led by Gonzalo Alonso, former director of sales at T1MSN.
Yahoo named Andrei Broder a research fellow and VP of emerging search technology with Yahoo Research. Broder was CTO at IBM Research, prior to which he was chief scientist at AltaVista.
IndustryBrains will provide contextual ad listings to Morningstar and the Chicago Board Options Exchange. They join numerous other finance sites that work with IndustryBrains, including Bankrate, Forbes.com, Investors Business Daily, and The Motley Fool.
Gemstar-TV Guide International promoted Richard Cusick to SVP and GM for digital media. Cusick has been VP of business development for the company since February 2004.
Mercantile Bankshares Corporation tapped Carton Donofrio Partners to provide marketing services, including interactive media. The client owns 13 community banks and a mortgage company.
UK insurance provider Norwich Union will use WebSideStory’s HBX analytics product on its Web sites. Goals include to improve online marketing campaigns and streamline navigation.
Quality Digest tapped VentureDirect Worldwide to manage its email and postal database. The email list contains 58,000 addresses.
