Mediasmith hires Bob Heyman; Broadband Enterprises signs video publisherpartners; Affinity Group extends contract with Dynamics Direct.
Mediasmith hired Bob Heyman as chief search officer. Heyman founded Cybernautics in 1994, and sold it to USWeb in 1997. He then founded, and for three years led, eMarketing Partners as CEO, managing client relationships with IBM, NEC and ABC. He also co-founded CybeReps.
“Bob showed us how we could make search strategic, rather than have it exist in a silo as it does in the dedicated search/technology companies that are doing search marketing today,” said Mediasmith CEO David Smith.
Broadband Enterprises signed a group of video publisher partners, including Windowsmedia.com, Dayport, Blastro.com and NBC Universal. The company will help advertiser clients create video spots that will run on these sites. It most recently worked with Horizon Media and The History Channel to syndicate a Web video promoting the History Channel’s “First Invasion: The War of 1812.” Other advertiser clients include Napster, Nikon and Oil of Olay.
“Working with Broadband Enterprises provides us a great opportunity to drive revenue opportunities for partners using Windows Media 9 Series to deliver high-quality TV-like advertisements on the Web,” said Erin Cullen, group product manager for the Windows Digital Media Division at Microsoft.
Affinity Group extended its contract with Dynamics Direct for two years. The client will expand its use of Dynamics Direct’s email platform on several brand sites and customer databases.
