WPP named Alex Norman to lead its joint venture with social media outsourcer LiveWorld, announced back in July. Norman’s background at WPP includes stints with Ogilvy and Young & Rubicam, in a variety of interactive and traditional roles. He’ll be based in New York.

Dan Murphy of Univision Online and Adrian D’Souza of CNET will co-chair a new ad operations council within the Interactive Advertising Council (IAB). The group’s mandate includes policies around auditing and accreditation of ad technologies, electronic data interchange, reporting tools and staffing issues. Other founding companies include AOL, CBS Digital Media, CondeNet, Fox Interactive Media, Walt Disney Internet Group, New York Times/About.com and Yahoo.

VideoEgg hired Michael Hess, Eric Klotz and Sean Mahoney to its sales team. Hess, former associate publisher for The New Yorker and Rolling Stone, leads the team as VP of sales. Klotz will be director of network development and Maloney will be an account executive.

Bobit Business Media tapped MediaBrains to build and manage online industry directories for 14 of its magazine brands. Publications include Auto Rental News, Limo & Chauffer Transportation, Nails magazine, Police and School Bus Fleet.

New Media Strategies hired four in sales. Jack Macleod joins as VP of sales, Danielle Pantages-Baker as regional Western sales manager, Kevin Roe as Midwest regional sales manager, and Kelly Hartigan as sales coordinator.

Rich media specialist EyeWonder tapped Creative Digital Group to create its rich media ads. Video and rich banners will “communicate EyeWonder’s leadership in rich media advertising.”
