AKQA opens Shanghai office; Organic picks up site development effort for Hubbard Media Group's new REELZ channel.

AKQA named Ho Chee Yue to run its Asia operations from a new Shanghai office. He joined the agency five years ago in its Singapore office. Additionally, AKQA Chairman Ajaz Ahmed was recently named an international advisor to the China Advertising Association. The new outpost will launch next month.

Hubbard Media Group tapped Organic to launch a Web site for its satellite cable network REELZ. For the deployment, Organic pulled information architecture resources from its New York office, product management from Toronto, and design from Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Indie music publisher INgrooves is using Bango’s “browse and buy” technology to connect small music labels and artists with fans in the mobile mediium. The deal will let the bands to give away or sell ringtones and other digital content directly to phone owners.
