IPG’s Mediabrands Magna names Brian Wieser lead global forecaster. Brian Wieser was named global director of forecasting, an expanded role which includes forecasting and strategic advisory services on a global basis, leveraging knowledge of the media economy, distribution platforms, and the underlying technologies. He joined IPG from Deutsche Bank Securities.

Jon Schneider of MRM Worldwide passes away. Jon Schneider, EVP, director of client services for the New York office of MRM worldwide has died. A brand advertising and digital and direct marketing veteran, he joined MRM Worldwide in April 2006. He also led efforts on a new pharmaceutical practice at the agency. He previously worked at Digitas in New York as vice president, marketing director. He spent nearly eight years at Digitas, where he led eCRM and digital marketing efforts for the wireless business, and financial services accounts. He’s survived by his wife, brothers and sister.

The Center for Oral History and West Point puts a soldier’s life online. The Center for Oral History, part of the History Department in the United States Military Academy at West Point, tapped interactive agency Huge to create a Web site, the first oral history of the U.S. military online. The site’s goal is “an effort to facilitate the public’s understanding and appreciation of the soldier life,” said a company statement from Huge.

Bermuda Ministry of Tourism selects iCrossing. Bermuda Ministry of Tourism selected iCrossing as its digital agency of record. iCrossing will create an integrated digital marketing program that combines Web development, search engine optimization, paid search, display advertising, and social media.

Former Fox Interactive executive goes to Pandora. John Trimble was named chief revenue officer, a newly created position. He was most recently EVP of ad sales at Glam Media, where he led sales for the launch of the Brash network. Previously he was SVP at Fox Interactive Media, where he managed sales initiatives for properties such as MySpace.com, AmericanIdol.com, and Fox.com. At Pandora Trimble will look to drive multiple ad revenue streams.

Purina tries social media campaign. Oddcast created a social campaign using Facebook Connect functionality where users can upload their photo and their pet’s photo to insert themselves into the MC Hammer video “U Can’t Touch This,” but with the Purina Beggin’ Time lyrics, “U Can’t Top This.”
