Execs & Accounts: Mobile Marketing Association, Omnicom's Singer Direct

MMA recruits new CEO; Omnicom's Singer Direct hires SVP to head up digital initiatives.

Mobile Marketing Association names Mike Wehrs to serve as president and chief executive.He replaces Laura Marriott. Wehrs previously held the role of vice president of industry affairs and evangelism at Nuance Communications. He was responsible for the company’s mobile business strategy, product strategy, industry, and public policy.

David Levy is named SVP of Omnicom’s Singer Direct. Levy will lead Singer Direct’s digital efforts. He was previously vice president, data marketing at Story Worldwide where he managed clients such as Unilever, Bayer, and Lexus. Prior to that he worked at Omnicom sister company Colangelo. Previously, Levi was VP, director of marketing at Digitas in New York where he led Web marketing campaigns for clients including IBM and Turner Broadcasting. With this appointment, Eric DePalma and Heather Bresnahan have been named vice presidents of Singer’s Digital group.

Brightcove hires two execs. Jeff Whatcott, senior vice president of marketing, will be responsible for leading Brightcove’s product marketing and marketing communications. He joins the online video platform from Acquia, a commercial open source company behind Drupal where he was vice president of marketing. Mike Quinn, senior vice president of sales for the Americas, brings over 20 years sales management experience. He was most recently senior vice president of sales for the Americas at FAST Search & Transfer. He served in leadership positions at Akamai and UUNet.

Red Door Interactive works with GuitarWorld.com. The initiative for GuitarWorld.com included keyword research, competitive analysis, analysis to increase site traffic, and strategy to generate revenue.

Brand.net hires sales directors in NY and Chicago. Beth Soroken-Broun, director of sales for the East region, will be based in New York. Soroken-Broun was previously executive sales director at Conde.net, where she led the beauty/CPG category and managed accounts such as Proctor & Gamble, Unilever, and J&J. Before Conde.net she worked at Time Warner’s InStyle.com. Heather Oxer was appointed director of sales for the central region based in Chicago. Oxer joined Brand.net from Blue Lithium where she ran the central region and managed the Midwest sales team through the company’s acquisition by Yahoo.

Tagged named Steve Sarner vice president of sales. Sarner will manage sales of the social discovery site. He joined Tagged from Fox Interactive Media, where he was responsible for integrated sales across FIM’s properties. Prior to FIM he served as VP and national sales director of Monster Worldwide’s consumer advertising division.

ChoiceStream names new head of advertising. Cheryl Kellond is tapped to be SVP, advertising. She recently left Yahoo where she was VP of advertiser product marketing.

Berlin-based agency creates a digital concert hall for the Berliner Philharmoniker. Multichannel agency argonauten G2 based in Berlin created the Digital Concert Hall for the Berliner Philharmoniker. The site will present concerts live on the Internet and host archive recordings in high definition.

Operative appointes Todd Sloan chief financial officer. Sloan’s strategic, financial, and operations experience in media, digital media, publishing and entertainment industries spans more than two decades. He was previously CFO at Heavy.com, and EVP of corporate development and CFO of NetRatings.
