MySpace named several new executives to its marketing and business development groups. Abe Thomas, VP of online marketing, held leadership positions at eBay and PayPal including eBay’s paid and natural search programs. Angela Courtin, SVP of marketing for entertainment and content, was VP of integrated marketing at MTV Networks. Jason Oberfest, VP of business development, was previously managing director of business development and product management for Los Angeles Times Interactive. Previously he served as VP of strategic planning at the interactive agency Blast Radius.
Traffiq named Scott Portugal SVP of global business development. Portugal will be responsible for expanding the ad exchange’s global sales efforts. Most recently Portugal was VP of publisher development at Tacoda, which is now part of AOL’s Platform-A. Prior to Tacoda he managed MaxOnline, an ad network now part of Ask/IAC.
TurnHere named David Rich and Jon Johnson to senior executive positions. David Rich, SVP of sales and marketing, was previously =CMO at Razz, and VP of worldwide marketing and channel sales at Kodak Gallery. He previously led marketing at Yahoo’s search, classifieds and local media businesses. Jon Johnson, SVP of operations, held senior operational roles at Netflix and Gymboree.
Search advertising start-up Clickable received $14.5 million in its second round of funding. The company, led by CEO David Kidder, has brought in a total $22.5 million in capital over 12 months time, with the current round coming from existing investors Union Square Ventures, FirstMark Capital, and lead financing from Founders Fund.
Alterian is providing integrated marketing software and services to three Spanish brands. BBVA, a financial services firm with 42 million clients in 32 countries worldwide, will use Alterian’s Data Discovery and Visualization and analytical reporting solutions. El Corte Ingles, a retailer in Spain, will use Alterian for its direct marketing to target high-growth segments and manage campaigns. Air Miles Spain, managing a loyalty and reward program called “Travel Club” will use DDV and Campaign Manager from Alterian’s services.
