WaPo names chief digital officer; Bartle Bogle Hegarty hires ECD from R/GA; Reprise appoints GM in San Francisco.
The Washington Post named Vijay Ravindran SVP and chief digital officer. Ravindran was chief technology officer of start-up political technology firm Catalist LLC, which built a national voter database. Before that he was director at Amazon.com in the ordering services group. He’ll assume his responsibilities in February 2009.
Bartle Bogle Hegarty appointed Robert Rasmussen executive creative director of innovation, a new role. Rasmussen was formerly executive creative director at R/GA, running a number of Nike accounts. He will report to BBH chief creative officer Kevin Roddy, and work to ensure that innovation is central to all aspects of the agency’s creative output.
Reprise Media named Steven Bustin VP and general manager in its San Francisco office. Bustin previously served as SVP of media services at Aptimus, where he launched the service division and worked with clients such as AOL and Pfizer.
Hitwise formed a strategic partnership with Tribal DDB. The partnership will provide Tribal DDB’s U.S. region with the ability to use Hitwise’s Competitive Intelligence for clients and new business opportunities.
Digitaria was selected by the Seattle Sounders FC to create an online experience for fans. The Major League Soccer team’s site will feature fully-integrated and interactive applications, social networking tools, and multimedia content.
Tremor Media added new talent to its national sales team. Richard Knopke, director of East Coast sales, joined the video ad network from NBC Universal. Mike Renfro, Southwest sales director, came from CNNMoney.com. Molly Seitel, Northwest sales director, previously worked at AllBusiness.com, where she was director of national accounts. Lindsay Klein and Jason Cange were named regional sales manager.
Time Warner exec Joe Kutchera exited to lead ContextWeb’s new Spanish-language contextual targeting business. Kutchera was hired as director of Spanish-language markets.
On-demand, personalized newscast service 1Cast hired MSNBCs Travis McElfresh. McElfresh, who joins as VP of technology, was VP of technology at MSNBC.com.
Richrelevance expanded its sales team. Tyler Hoffman, vice president of sales, previously spent seven years building and running PayPal’s enterprise sales team. He will direct richrelevance’s team of sales reps, sales engineers, and account managers. Richrelevance is a personalized recommendations engine for e-commerce sites.
