Streaming video firm EyeWonder has named former CBS President James Rosenfield to its board of advisors. EyeWonder CEO John Vincent said the high-profile appointment is intended to demonstrate that the Internet — and EyeWonder by extension — can be as effective a mass medium as television.
“Jim Rosenfield brings the broadcast experience and perspective that will help us make that case,” Vincent said. “We are pleased and honored to have him on the EyeWonder team.”
Rosenfield was president of the CBS television network from 1977 to 1985, responsible for sales, affiliate relations, operations, engineering and finance. He is currently president of JHR & Associates, consultants to traditional media, interactive media, communications and entertainment companies. He also served as chairman and chief executive of John Blair Communications, a repping firm for 134 television stations.
“The ability of traditional advertisers deliver TV-like impressions on the Web using EyeWonder opens the door for advertisers to truly consider the Internet as a legitimate alternative to TV,” said Rosenfield.
E-mail marketing developer Quris has appointed Robb Wilson to the post of vice president of software development. Wilson will lead the company’s efforts to define and develop its email service platforms. Before joining Quris, Wilson was president and chief technology officer of People I Know Communications, where he built a software and marketing platform called Wijits. Wilson also spent eight years with Warner Brothers and Time Warner/AOL, where he developed digital content tools for film and television.
Forbes.com has hired Janett Kennedy Haas to its New York sales team as an account manager, with responsibility for New York area accounts. Prior to joining Forbes.com. Kennedy Haas worked at Ziff Davis Media for five years, most recently as Eastern associate publisher of Interactive Week. She has also held positions at IDG and CMP publications.
Cross-channel direct marketer Roska Direct has hired A.J. Viscomi as vice president and director of client services. Viscomi, formerly vice president/director of direct response marketing at The Martin Agency, will head up account management for Roska. Executive vice president Jay Bolling, who previously held this position, will now focus on business development.
“AJ is highly regarded as an instinctive and insightful direct marketer. Weve known each other a while and we’re delighted to have joined forces,” said Jon Roska, founder and CEO of the agency.
At Martin, Viscomi participated in pitches for the US Army, Lucent, Deloitte, Kodak and IKEA. He also worked on the agency’s Alltel, Saab and GEICO accounts.
Interep Interactive’s Winstar Interactive Media has signed on to represent three Ziff Davis sites: PCMag.com, YIL.com and ExtremeTech.com. Winstar will rep the sites specifically to non-technology and international advertisers.
Procket Networks, a developer of IP networking technologies, has hired Ron Young as chief marketing officer. Young comes to Procket Networks from Yipes Communications, where he was co-founder and chief marketing officer. Before that he was vice president of marketing and sales at Nokia High Speed Access Products. Previously he was a leader in marketing for AT&T, Pacific Bell, US West, Electronic Arts, CVS and Levi’s. Young has won more than 50 professional awards.
