iVillage Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief Nancy Evans has resigned her post and her seat on the board of directors to pursure other goals.
“It’s been a glorious eight years, defying the odds to create a platform of lasting consequence for women,” Evans said. “But boy is it time to move on to do a few more things from what iVillage women call the ‘forever’ projects list.”
She is replaced by Kellie Gould, a seven year iVillage veteran who most recently directed the women’s portal’s editorial team as senior VP of programming.
“Kellie has been involved in the editorial product since the early days of iVillage,” said Douglas McCormick, iVillage chairman and CEO. “She understands what women want and what it takes to create award-winning content.”
Gould’s other responsibilities have included overseeing the Hearst Magazine Group, which creates the content for the Hearst Magazine sites residing on iVillage.
Another high-profile iVillage exec, senior VP of Ad Sales Vanessa Benfield, quietly left the company at the end of last year.
Scott Allen has joined MindComet, an online marketing agency, as director of creative services. Allen comes to MindComet from Colorado-based IGN, where he spent six years, most recently as was director of design, and coordinated efforts to get new ads specs added to the IAB’s list of standard units. He has developed creative for Reebok, Nokia, Nike, Electronics Boutique, AOL Broadband, Mountain Dew, Heineken and Universal.
“We are delighted to have Scott join the MindComet team,” said MindComet President and CEO Ted Murphy. “His extensive management experience and extraordinary design talents will add a new dynamic to our growing company.”
Red Door Interactive has launched a new site for The National Brain Tumor Foundation (NBTF) at braintumor.org, making it easier for people to find the site and locate information.
As part of the redesign, Red Door added simplified navigation and content management systems and provided search optimization services. The agency said it concentrated on keeping the look upscale, yet simple and uncluttered so as not to detract from the importance of the information provided.
“The new site from Red Door Interactive has, in a short time, helped us to increase awareness of NBTF and update information on the latest treatment innovations,” said Nancy Gaggioli, director of technology and finance for NBTF.
Minneapolis-based Web marketing agency Ciceron is using ExactTarget’s ProConnect email marketing software to help St. Olaf College build alumni and parent relationships.
Launched in December 2002 with e-newsletters detailing activities on the Northfield, Minnesota campus, the St. Olaf initiative has replaced many printed alumni mailings and is now being expanded to include an email-only fundraising campaign targeting recent graduates. With Ciceron’s assistance and ProConnect’s point-and-click tools, St. Olaf is designing and sending emails to more than 15,000 opt-in subscribers every month.
“The reaction has been so positive that we have not only been able to reduce costs by eliminating many printed communications, but we have also decided to organize a special email based fundraising effort aimed at our younger alumni,” said Lynsey Struthers, Web manager for the college.
