Facebook Accounts for 1 in 6 U.K. Page Views

The social network accounted for almost 17 percent of page views served to U.K. users in June.

Facebook accounted for almost 17 percent of U.K. page views during the month of June, racking up more than twice as many as Google, according to data from Hitwise.

The data implies more than one in every six pages viewed by U.K. Internet users is now served by Facebook, which suggests the site now accounts for a major portion of the online advertising U.K. users are exposed to.

Overall, the social network accounted for 7.14 percent of all U.K. Internet visits over the same period, trailing Google for that metric, which lead with a 9.59 percent share. In Hitwise’s social networking category of sites, Facebook accounted for 54.5 percent of visits.
