G & L Internet Bank, which says it is the first FDIC-backed, Internet bank targeted at the gay and lesbian community, hired public relations firm Aplomb Consulting and advertising agency Courtney & Watson to promote its upcoming launch.
“Never again will gay men and lesbians have to worry that they will face discrimination when they seek banking services,” said G & L founder Steven Dunlap.
G & L will go live online in 1999. A major national advertising campaign planned for early 2000 will promote the bank’s ability to provide personalized customer service.
The ad campaign will supplement visibility programs, including public relations activities, online marketing efforts and meetings with local and national leaders of influential gay and lesbian organizations.
Billings were not disclosed.
