Hillary Launches Anti-Gonzales Blog Ads

hillaryclinton_gonzalesad.gifIf it weren’t political enough already, the uproar over firings of several U.S. Attorneys for no apparent reason has been co-opted by the Clinton campaign. Yep, Hillary’s presidential campaign just launched ads on blogs including DailyKos and MyDD linking to a petition calling for AG Alberto Gonzales to step down.

The ad text reads “Sen. Clinton called on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to step down in the wake of the firing of several U.S. attorneys — firings we now know to be political. Join Hillary in asking Gonzales to resign.”

Once a user has submitted her name to the petition, the site loads a thank you page with a link that automates an e-mail “to tell your famly and friends.”

My sources tell me the ads were intended to launch late last week, but were delayed to ensure the campaign paid up before hand….I doubt this was a specific requirement for the Clinton campaign, though; political advertisers are notorious for skipping town before paying media outlets for campaign ads.

One question: Does this mean we get to blame Hillary when Bush appoints Harriet Miers to the Attorney General position after Gonzales resigns?
