UPN launches rich media ad campaign; Marketleap to resell Inktomi paid inclusion; Trend Micro to sponsor tournament; TMP Directional Marketing taps Trellix services.

UPN Launches Rich Media Ad Campaign

UPN is promoting its upcoming TV season with front-page rich media ad on major consumer sites.

The network will showcase animated ads for its new shows “The Twilight Zone” and “Haunted,” which premiere Wednesday and Tuesday, respectively. On each day, the front page of Yahoo will carry an ad for the launching show.

The ads seek to build buzz around the two new shows among the highly coveted 18-34 demographic, which has proven UPN’s strongest segment. The Yahoo ad begins as a 300 x 250 pixel rectangle, but after displaying copy and graphics shrinks to a smaller button format. Copy reads: “Check your reality at the door.”

The ads also will run on E! Online, Viacom’s MTV sites, and TV Guide Online, throughout the week.

Carat Interactive designed the ads, which are delivered in New York-based Eyeblaster’s format.

Marketleap to Resell Inktomi Paid Inclusion

Search engine marketer Marketleap will offer Inktomi paid inclusion.

The San Francisco-based firm will serve as a reseller for Inktomi’s Index Connect, which adds clients to the search provider’s syndicated database of search listings. Those listings appear in search returns from sites like About.com, and other providers including Overture , LookSmart and eSpotting.

Index Connect is geared for large clients with more than 1,000 URLs each — including dynamically generated pages — and serves as a conduit for the pages to be inserted into partners’ search results.

Trend Micro to Sponsor Tournament

Antivirus and network security player Trend Micro will sponsor the fifth annual Champions Challenge Golf Tournament.

Cupertino, Calif.-based Trend Micro will serve as the tournament’s title sponsor when it is played at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. More than 18,000 attended the tournament last year. Golf legend Johnny Miller will host, and other greats — including John Daly, Hale Irwin, Bruce Summerhays, Dave Stockton, Billy Casper and Craig Stadler — are expected to participate.

TMP Directional Marketing Taps Trellix Services

TMP Worldwide’s yellow pages marketing unit will team with Trellix to provide online marketing and site development tools for its franchise and dealer customers.

New York-based TMP said it had offered online publishing tools and services to clients since 1996, but that it plans to add more advanced tools to the mix through its licensing of Web publishing technology from Trellix.

Trellix’s solution will enable users to create, update and maintain Web sites with a combination of approved corporate content and important local market information. The solution features integration with TMP’s stand-alone services, such as e-commerce stores, appointment schedulers, and email marketing systems.

“Our goal is to continuously offer TMP clients new and improved channels to grow their businesses through a comprehensive array of marketing and advertising opportunities,” said Pete Lamson, COO, TMP Directional Marketing, Interactive. “Our Trellix-powered website suite provides our customers with a superior solution for driving sales and revenue, and is just one more example of TMP’s commitment to creating value for our client base.”

TMP also said it had licensed Trellix’s hosting technology, allowing TMP to offer hosting services as well.
