Mobile and internet adspend was the main reason behind growth in UK advertising overall in the first quarter of 2013, a new report from the Advertising Association and Warc Expenditure Report has revealed.
The research, entitled ‘UK Advertising’s Bounce-Back Continues‘, notes a 2.4% increase in adspending for the first quarter of 2013, as it reached £4.14bn, and internet and mobile spend were seen at the heart of the positive results, due to online spend increasing by 11.1%.
Overall, it is predicted that the total adspend of 2013 will increase by 2.6%, and will eventually rise to 4.9% by 2014.
Tim Lefroy, Chief Executive of the Advertising Association commented: “A pound spent on advertising returns six pounds to GDP. These figures don’t just reflect growing confidence, they represent an important investment in the recovery.”
